Momma's Birthday Present

Hi everyone! This is my first post since Maggie was born (translation...one of my first "free moments" where I'm not feeding this little milk monster), and it also happens to be my 33rd birthday. Maggie is the best birthday present ever (in addition to the Krispy Kremes that Will bought for me this morning)! Each morning from about 11:00-1:00 she has an alert, awake period where we like to lie around and watch each other.

Stay tuned for more pics, and I promise I'll get around to returning folks' e-mails one of these days.

Crafty...

Our friends and family have been so generous and Maggie even has a few originals in her collection. I thought I would share a few of her hand-made gifts with you all.
1) A watercolor of a magnolia blossom painted by my mom (I'll get it framed soon!)
2) A 'M-a-g-g-i-e' wall hanging painted by my sister.
3) A quilt made by Maggie's great-great grandmother for Heather's mom when she was pregnant with her brother. You will note the pink border - another gender 'hunch' gone awry. Perfect to hand down to the first girl of the next generation!
4) A crocheted blanket made by Maggie's great-grandmother (Dessie) originally for Heather's mom.
5) A knitted blanket made for Maggie by her great-grandmother on my Dad's side (Ginger).
6) A quilt made for Maggie by our friend Danesha.
7) A rattle made by Daddy with walnut from same tree I made my wedding ring(s) out of (I am already on ring #5. Daddy does not keep up with jewelry well!!).

Attack of the Grandparents!!

They descended upon us in droves - driving many long hours to see their first granddaughter. First one set, then another in a well coordinated offensive designed to ensure we were well fed and that Maggie would not want for a warm body to hold her - lest she should have to nap in a 'cold hard' crib.
Finally, we have driven them back...for now. But I know their kind and I am confident they will return with more numbers - aunts, uncles, great grandparents and the like. They are relentless beasts that feed on the coos and soft skin of defenseless babies.
Amidst the commotion, I managed to snap a few pictures of the carnage.
Enjoy!!

Mommy's little girl or Daddy's little girl?

Family picture (finally a picture of Momma - she spends about 9 hours a day holding Maggie, but it is hard to get a picture without her exposed!)

Maggie at 5 days

After three days in the hospital, we brought Maggie home on Saturday. Aside from one long night before Maggie got the hang of feeding, it has been wonderful, but very tiring. Heather's parents came in Sunday and have been helping (spoiling) their first grandbaby. The beagles are not terribly impressed by Maggie or our new sleeping schedule, but are respectful of her space. Our first doctor visit was today and she is doing well and already up 3 oz. from her weight when we left the hospital 3 days ago. She is a voracious eater and is a delight to be around (except when she is hungry). Needless to say, Momma is exhausted and sore, and Daddy continues to dominate her in the diaper changing arena: 49-3. Here are a few picutres.
